Day 6 - Rudesheim, Germany to Salzburg, Austria: 2019-07-03

Travel Day!  Today is the day we head to Salzburg!  So excited to be back.  Little disappointed we won't be able to visit our friends there (turns out they are visiting the USA, ha!)

Turns out we're leaving our magical breakfasts behind...  :\  We will miss you tasty breads, meats, and cheeses!

Holy crap, I SO want to pull this down and pretend it's a phaser from Star Trek!  And/or smash the window with it, which would be even more satisfying (and more illegal!)

Our sweet Maya - one thing that isn't always obvious is that long travel days are kinda hard!  This girl has (always) been a total pro on days like this.  And although Amy and I are pretty awesome, I'm sure it's not always easy to travel with your parents.  Thanks for being our travel buddy!

One transfer down!  Frankfurt Hbf.

and from the other direction

<< time passes, we almost miss our connection in another train station (we had about 4 mins to get 12 tracks over - we were all sprinting for it.  Thankfully, we made it >>

On the longer train ride, Amy and I spent some time talking about fun new projects for Momentum  (stay tuned!), and I spent some time trying to get my PC laptop to be, umm, less-PC-ey.  They're getting better.  I put ubuntu on it, but it's not a full-install, just part of the WSL.  I don't like sharing data between my Win settings and ubuntu.  I'll likely just bite the bullet later and go full linux.

A little like home

Saw this place near the train station, and remembered that it was the SAME PLACE that I walked to at night in 2009 to get access to the internet.  A little seedy (and so was the neighborhood crowd I walked through/past at that time of night).  But I had freshly quit my job and was working on The Next Big Thing.   (spoiler alert: turns out it was NOT the next big thing, hence, my current day job.  But as they say, "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take!")

Indeed!

Much much much more on Salzburg tomorrow, it's a long one!
