2013-07-29: Departing Vienna, arriving St. Johan im Tirol!

So, it is with no small amount of sadness that we leave Vienna - we had a great time here...  So many interesting things to see, so many awesome public pools, and we were seriously getting ninja-level on the public transit.  I think it was yesterday where we hit 4 connections *just* as they were rolling up!  We exited, cruised to the next portion of the underground habitrail, saw the train pull up, checked the number and BOOM.  Onwards.  We were all sure hoping that karma wouldn't come back to haunt us today!  :)

The last time leaving our awesome apartment in Vienna  :(  Thanks Wolfgang!
Amy and one of her occasional besties.
Salzburg!  One of our favorite places in the world.  Sad that this is all we got to see of it - we hope to see you and your family next time, Shari!
Okay, I lied.  We did also see THIS in Salzburg.

Starting to look a bit more Tirolean...
The travel experts formerly known as Ella and Maya.

Once we arrived in St. Johann, we were blown away.  Such natural beauty - the mountains are incredible, and the town is awesome.  I guess in the winter, it's CRAZY with downhillers, although they have something like 200km of XC ski trails as well - Amy and I liked it so much here we were discussing coming back in the winter.

That evening, we ate at a restaurant that's been in business for a couple hundred years.  TONS of them are this old - you see dates on the doorways that are from way before Columbus "discovered" America.  Crazy!  As you can probably tell, Ella isn't eating, she's eyeing me suspiciously.

They're just so darn cute.  Two peas in a pod, I tell you.

Yes, this is actually *part* of our view from the hotel.  It rocks.

Here's another part of the view (the Wilder Kaiser in the background).

See what I mean?  This place has been around forever!

Lots of the streets look just like this one (many without the "big" road though).

This is our place for the next 4 days - would HIGHLY recommend.

After Ella was done eyeing me suspiciously, I got to use her shoulder as a pillow.  Our kids make for the *best* pillows!

So, as is the pattern, we were sad to leave Vienna, but excited for the next stage.  Now that we're in St. Johann, we're just excited :)

  1. I seriously want to invade Maya's closet and steal all of her t-shirts! I know I should be looking at the travel photos, but no, I'm looking at the fashion. Nichol
