Generally speaking (on vacation and IRL) Amy and Maya are up early, Ella and I, notsomuch. So this morning, my breakfast buddy (Ella) and I had another rockin' meal - they actually had a juicer with a whole bowl full of carrots, apples, and pears. Only things that could have made it better were spinach and red bell peppers! As the trip goes on and gets closer to Vienna, the coffee is getting better. We loved our Zoettl in Munich, but even the table-coffee is getting good now.

She loves me! |
On our way out of town we hit a skateboard park, which had some pretty kewl graffiti. Ella and I stopped to take some pics, and I was able to put my nerd bike through its paces. I managed to ride a wheelie down a ramp (in my mind) and didn't even crash! Actually, I did do some pretty tame stuff on the ramps and dips, but we're still firmly in "risk minimization mode" for the trip :)

Helmut and Stiegl, sitting in a tree... |
We went through Mauthausen, which was very pretty (cool buildings, by the river, etc.). They also had some Nazi-era concentration camp nearby, but we opted not to see that.
Another small town we went through had a cool place to stop for food next to a playground. This playground had a TON of cool rides! There's a "barrel" that is on rollers that you walk then run then stumble in (unless you're Maya - then you are like a cat and never fall down ever). I got some sweet first-person video of me on the merry-go-round (nicknamed by us "the tomato of Death") with Maya - I was about 1.5 revolutions from blowing chunks. Mother Nature!

I LOVE that they still like parks. |
 |
This was super fun, if a little dangerous :) |
Lunch was good, we all got salads. JUST KIDDING! There are no salads here, Nature Boy! But meaty though it was, tasty/filling it also was. One entertaining portion of the meal were the ducks that were so domesticated and used to begging for food they all but jumped up into your lap while eating. I love ducks. If I couldn't have a monkey or a chimp for a pet (have you seen what they do with their poo?!?) and couldn't have a dog (allergies), I would probably have a duck. Because ducks are awesome.

You can't see it, but Maya is zenning out drumming on the table. |

Cool old stuff. |

More cool old stuff. |
We also stopped at this place that was famous for its Moest (pear wine/cider). Not super-sweet, but tart and refreshing with a little kick to chill you out.
 |
This pear just got a lot sweeter. |

Us at the destination - finally! |

Yes, we're tired. |

Very tired. |

There was a cool castle in Wallsee, IIRC, but it was up a Wall to See it. Get it? GET IT? |
It was a super-long day, again with a bit of a headwind, and about 5 km longer than expected. But it was really nice to be done and get to our hotel. Nice place, although smoky as shit - lots of the local meatheads in the bar smoking away. Between that and our server that night (bad vibes) I feel I kept this place at an emotional arm's length. I think he may have had a problem with strong women, but I think it might have been just "women". Anyway, the main point is that they had food, beer, and beds, which buys a lot of goodwill when you're hungry, thirsty, and tired.

We stopped for directions with this nice fellow with a fish and a righteous mane. |

He just got on his bitchin' trike and showed us the way. |
Sorry the pics are a bit incongruous w.r.t. time. Hurrying to get this out before they have fire drills in the Ramada Wien :)
Solid night working away for me, so that was good.
