Fire your advertising people, I could do that shit in my sleep

Hey all, quick post today once I noticed a theme in my pictures.  There are some *weird* ads here.  I know it seems only natural to think that the advertising in your home country is so advanced, but you're going to have to believe me on this one.  The ads in Austria (not as much in Germany, but a bit) feel like they're 20 years behind the ones in the U.S., easy.

Who thought these were good ideas?  I seriously want to know if people got paid to come up with those ideas.  Because if they did, I'll never be out of a job.  I swear the church basement ladies could probably outrun this stuff.

Not that it's important or anything (their social policies are probably 20+ years ahead of ours?), but given the weird retro 80's thing going on with the fashions around here it makes it feel a bit Eastern Bloc sometimes.

These are just a sampling of the gamut from "awkward" to "WTF?!?".

Who thought this would be cute?  WHO?  (this was the executive of a candy shop)

Meta: I thought this was a parody ad.  It's not.  That's his real smile (google it, you won't be disappointed).

There are others in town in this style of things like a guy playing a ham like a violin, etc.  I actually like this one, if only because the fish is wearing a top hat.  Anything less would be uncivilized.

WTF AUSTRIA?  WHY DO YOU HAVE TO DO THINGS LIKE THIS?  (this is a "dance" performance)

Oh I know what will get attention!  Let's spatter some poor kid with blood.

Another "dance" performance.  After seeing this guy's face all over town lately (and unsuccessfully trying to impersonate it) I have to say I won't miss it!

This ad, on the other hand is awesome.  Show's the items, the prices, and the name of the place is YUMMYHOUSE.  How can you go wrong?!?

Oh look, more people with chocolate on them.  Snore.  Alternative caption: "you, uh, have a little something right there (motions to point at her forehead.  And neck.  And shoulder.)"

God dammit - who thinks clowns are cute/funny/worthwhile?  I seriously get angry when I see this - there are NO people left on Earth that find clowns anything but annoying, and yet they persist "oh look at me!  I'm a silly clown!  Did you notice my outlandish hair and big red nose?"  MAN.  Start to question the status-quo - by being more open about the lameness of clowns, in time others will be less fearful to question the clowning-friendly apparatus currently in place.

The look on this guy's face is priceless.  It's almost like "oh gawd, they made me get out of my jammies for THIS?  Presidenting is hard work!"
Wow.
